The GovAI Coalition, a groundbreaking initiative across local, state, and federal agencies to advance responsible and purposeful adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, announced the launch of the AI Contract Hub. Powered by Pavilion, the leading shareable contract platform for state, local, and educational institutions, the AI Contract Hub centralizes access to curated AI contracts and empowers agencies to streamline procurement, implement contracting best practices, and adopt ethical AI solutions more efficiently.
The demand for AI solutions in the public sector has skyrocketed, with federal allocation to AI-related contracts reaching $3.3 billion in FY2022, representing a 2.5x increase since 2017. 51% of federal, state, and local government employees use AI applications on a weekly basis. Yet, AI governance standards remain in their infancy, creating challenges for agencies striving to adopt AI responsibly.
The AI Contract Hub is the latest resource from the GovAI Coalition to help governments adapt and respond to the new opportunities and challenges AI presents. This shared repository of contract language, cooperative agreements, and best practices benefits government agencies by:
Additionally, AI vendors gain greater exposure to public sector opportunities and deeper insights into the standards and governance practices they’re expected to meet.
“We’re at a pivotal moment where AI can transform how we serve our communities,” in a joint statement shared by Emily Royall and Kim Barnard, co-chairs of the GovAI Coalition Cooperative Purchasing Committee. “By building the AI Contract Hub, the GovAI Coalition is empowering public agencies to adopt AI more efficiently while ensuring these technologies align with the values and needs of the public sector.”
Mariel Reed, CEO and Founder of Pavilion, echoed this sentiment: “Pavilion is proud to partner with GovAI Coalition to drive ethical and transparent AI adoption. Together, we’re equipping public agencies with the tools to shape AI procurement practices that benefit all stakeholders.”
Pavilion and the GovAI Coalition invite public agencies to contribute contracts to the repository and leverage the AI Contract Hub. There is no cost to add contracts to Pavilion or use the AI Contract Hub.
